Another fantastic session.

I got to the Lifeboat Station at around 2.30pm and decided that there wasn't enough wind for the small kit there so headed of to the Golf Course Car Park where I rigged my 5m and my little waveboard. I was soon on the water and well-powered up, flying out through the messy 4 foot surf and getting some BIG jumps.

It was pretty rough out there and as I was on my own I had to keep telling myself to relax. I was coping with the conditions well though. The wind then seemed to fill in a bit and I was maxed on on my 5m and heading upwind most of the time. I decided it was time to head to the Lifeboat Station where the wind would be a little lighter and the waves much cleaner. I couldn't be bothered to pack up, drive there and re-rig so I decided to sail there. Now, I know I've sailed to Borth a few times recently in Westerly winds on a 100ltr board in relatively flat water, which is really nice. But.... Doing it maxed out on a 5m and a wave-board in amongst logo high swell is a different game altogether!! Especially as the wind was SW so it took me about 12 big long tacks and about an hour to cover what is 3 miles as the crow flies.

Obviously when I got there I was pretty exhausted, so had a little rest on the beach whilst watching the surfers. I then went back out and had a really good sail for an hour or so in the 3 foot clean surf. I made some good jumps, had some nice wave rides weaving in and out of the surfers and had my best wipe-out ever. A huge bail from a big jump and I managed to do a double back somersault on the way down, landing flat on my face.. Cool !!

I wasn't looking forward to the sail back downwind to Ynyslas, and was going to leave my kit on the beach, hitch back down the road and then drive my van back to ther Lifeboat Station. But as I came in from my 'one last run' sonething made me gybe instead of come ashore and off I went again out through the surf. This time I just beared away and started the scarey downwind maxed out runs back to Ynyslas. I was heading quite a way off the wind and the further along the beach I got, the bigger the waves and stronger the wind. I made it back, landed on the bach and carried my kit to the van, only to find that it was now somehow 6pm... Where did all the time go??

Excellent session.
